Singer/Guitarist
I am a singer-guitarist with a large repertoire of Latin American songs and Jazz standards. I regularly work as a solo performer and with other UK-based musicians.
I started my life as a professional singer in Buenos Aires, Argentina around 1990. Apart from Jazz, Brazilian popular music became my other big love and I studied it and performed it with different ensembles. I had the good fortune to work alongside many of the best Jazz and Latin musicians in Argentina. In my last period in Buenos Aires I sang with my quartet my own arrangements of Latin American songs, treated with a jazz lens.
In 2000 I moved to the UK and started gigging intensively as a live performer (singer-guitarist), singing jazz and a variety of Latin genres, mainly Bossa Nova and Caribbean Boleros, both as a solo act and with bands.
In this period I recorded two albums, Alma Argentina (in 2002) and The Blue Hour (2004) with some of my compositions. I also developed an interest in Indian music and studied Hindustani classical vocals with Dr P Chaudhry, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and later with Rajesh Kelkar.
I also started performing Argentine Tango, and recorded my first tango album: Mirando al Sur, arranged by Fernando Marzan in Buenos Aires, also in 2004.
Life circumstances and a very generous opening from legendary jazz singer Sheila Jordan enabled my move to London in 2004. Shortly afterwards, I was invited to tour Europe and record with the award winning Orient House Ensemble led by Gilad Atzmon (album Musik).
In London I became friends with some of London’s finest Latin musicians and began Rioplatenses, a band playing Argentine songs with jazz and World Music influences. We recorded a live album, ‘A route to the roots’ in 2008, and performed in most major festivals and venues in the UK. I also featured in Migration (Johnny Philips Oriole) and The Juicer (Nick Homes)
Around this time I became the vocalist of the two main UK-based Tango bands: first Los Mareados (recording their album ‘Los Mareados’) and then Tango Siempre (recording and touring Malandras del Tango with Victor Villena, and later, taking part in a UK tour with live musical show Midnight Tango, which featured Strictly Come Dancing- famous dancers Vincent and Flavia).
Alongside accomplished UK jazz singer Tina May and a bunch of outstanding jazz musicians, I toured and recorded Musica Paradiso in 2016, an album spanning jazz and Latin songs from films. I also featured in The world needs Tango with Dutch ensemble Walton-Van Duinen.
In 2017 I recorded Agora, an album with original arrangements of contemporary Latin American songs, with award-winning Venezuelan pianist Edward Simon.
